Just when you thought one holiday season was through, along comes another: There are only 69 days left until St. Patrick's Day.

And in case you've lost count, worry not: Keith Albee has been marking the days for you-and displaying them-with an automatic countdown at his Web site, www.keith.albee.com.

The site functions as more than a mere herald for the holiday, though.

Albee, of Miller Place, plays the bagpipes with the Eastern Long Island Police Pipes & Drums, when he's not on duty as a deputy sheriff in Central Islip. And the site tells folks he's available for hire for events being planned, such as weddings and parties - and unplanned, such as funerals.

No, you can't click anywhere on the site to hear him play -music files are simply too huge for him to handle well on the Internet, he said - but the site does mention a list of popular favorites, "Danny Boy" among them.

"Of course," said Albee, "I have also played at Italian weddings." In fact, with a little more practice, he expects to have a nifty version of that fast-stepping Neapolitan favorite, the Tarantella.
